Hello. Some cakes demand precision. This is not one of them. This cake is based on the my mother’s traditional recipe. It demands love. She has baked this cake for as long as I can remember. Walnuts and raisins intertwine with carrots and orange. Shredded, stirred, scooped with hands that have peeled oranges, cracked walnuts, or simply found comfort in the act of making something. It is not a fragile thing, though it holds tenderness in every bite. It is a cake built on warmth, on patience, on the small grace of trusting that disparate parts will come together as they should.

The ingredients should make a 10” cake.
